Richard Byrd was born in New York City, in 1941. He never met his father, who died during World War II. His remaining family consisted of his mother, and his brother, James. When Richard was only 8, his mother passed away. Richard and James were placed in an orphanage, and it was during this period that Richard first began to enjoy music. The orphanage only had a single radio, and whenever Richard had any spare time, he was always planted in front of it.
After a short span in the orphanage, Richard was adopted by a wealthy family who had recently lost their own son. They offered to adopt James as well, but he mysteriously disappeared. Richard quickly adjusted to the high life, and his new family helped him achieve his every goal. It was during this period that Richard began to play the guitar. He was a natural, and soon became a talented player. He was also a gifted vocalist. These years were the best of his life, as he built his musical talent, all while displaying excellence in school.
It was also during this period in his life that Richard formed his first band, The Communion. After his 18th birthday, Richard was presented with a large trust fund, and encouraged to peruse his dream of stardom. However, Richard desired something much deeper than fame. You see, during his decidedly bleak life, Richard came to believe that who he was drove people away. His father left him, his mother died, and his brother ran away from him. Richard could not help but blame himself. By the time he was adopted, he had come to understand that if he could act like someone else, like a better person, then maybe people might accept him. During his time with his foster parents, he learned the tricks of the trade. He was able to act like the son that they wanted, and in return was rewarded with acceptance and love. Hence, in his adulthood, he chose to act like someone the country desired, someone who could be famous. Thus, he started a band.
